EUREKA! TT s.r.l., the investment company of “Eureka! Fund I – Technology Transfer” (https://www.eurekaventure.it/) that finances Proof-of-Concept (POC) projects of Italian universities and research centers, has chosen to fund through an innovation contract the CNR – Institute of Applied Sciences and Intelligent Systems “Eduardo Caianiello” (ISASI) together with the ENEA – Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development.
The Proof-of-Concept project named ALICE- Actuators based on LIght sensitive CompositE”, targets the development of innovative smart materials with the final goal to use them as actuators. The proposing teams, leaded by the ISASI researcher Lucia Petti, and by the ENEA researcher Giuseppe Nenna, exploiting the technological achievements of the FET OPEN PULSE-COM project will use such materials and methods to develop a new generation of actuators which can be moved by solar light too. Through a necessary and adequate patent protection of the technology the project aims to propose a new class of proof-of-concept systems to revolutionise the markets and changing the current paradigms in the fields of smart devices, robotics, sensors and actuators.
