First Announcement
We are delighted to announce you the upcoming 2nd International School on Smart Materials for Opto-Electronic Applications that will be held at the Grand Hotel San Michele in Cetraro (Italy), September 12-13, 2022.
Main scope
The main scope of this International School is to provide in a short time of only two-days and full-immersion modality a rapid training on 6 different advanced technologies:
- Piezo-electric Materials;
- Photo-active Materials;
- Nano-fabrication by top down and bottom up approaches;
- Advanced printing technologies & additive manufacturing;
- Characterization techniques and their implementation in Smart Materials and devices;
- Application of Smart Materials.
The school is mainly reserved for PhD, MSc students and postdocs, but also researchers from any branch of science who wish to increase their knowledge and awareness about Smart Materials, micro and nanotechnologies are very welcome (up to a maximum of 12 participants onsite). The Directors of the School will issue a certificate relating to the teaching hours followed and the activities carried out to allow students to receive training credits based on the provisions set out by the Doctoral Schools. To this end, students are advised to contact their respective coordinators of PhD cycles.
The aim is to bring to the attendees the concepts and basic working principles of the above Smart Materials Technologies from experts in the fields coming from both Academy and industries. Moreover, lectures will be given for addressing complete understanding of how the Smart Materials have been exploited for achieving recent significant results in groundbreaking research of the FET project PULSE-COM as well as in applied sciences by investigators working in the PULSE-COM Consortium. The school is directed by PULSE-COM Team Leaders who are responsible for the facilities and for the related research topics.
To participate
To participate in the school it is necessary to send a confirm to the contacts expressing the interest in attending by July 11, 2022. The participation to the school is free of charge and it will be in remote and on-site mode. A maximum of 12 students can participate onsite in the school. Acceptances will take place on the basis of the order of arrival of the registration emails and will be notified by e-mail. A special discount is offered for all participants (Full-board FB accommodation (breakfast, lunch and dinner) are fixed at € 80/person/day (triple room in residence). Students or early stage researchers who will participate to the Elevator Pitch competition will be selected for a grants. Grants will be assigned on the base of the best “Elevator pitch talk” presented.
Elevator Pitch competition
“Elevator Pitch” Talks: “Are you ready to report about your scientific results and findings in the time of an elevator ride…?” The idea is to give the opportunity to early stage researchers to present their main research findings in only a few slides and a short period of time.
The “Elevator Pitch” talk (3 min) will be integrated with a poster where all questions and curiosities will be discussed. If you accept the challenge, please prepare three slides. Remember……..you will have only 3 minutes to present your “Elevator Pitch”… before attending your poster!!
